(141) Become More Intuitive (what psychics don't want you to know)

Updated: Sep 30, 2023

Full disclosure: I am a psychic.

This is how it works and why there are mistakes: we first sense, or feel, the future and then translate it into words, but this translation can come out wrong. Like this.

It was Christmas, and I was invited to an open house for psychics. As I walked through the door, I knocked a Christmas card to the floor.

Another psychic picked it up, turned to the host, and said, “This person is going to help you.”

It turned out to be my card, and I did, indeed, help a psychic but not the host.

Psychics make mistakes because the feeling of your future goes through their experiences, desires, fears, and beliefs. Even when translating our own future, we can, and do, misinterpret.

So why do you want to be more intuitive? Some want it because they think psychics can see and avoid their approaching problems, but... no.

I once saw a T-shirt printed with a Visa Card:

"Visa It’s everywhere you want to be."

Only this shirt said:

"Karma It’s everywhere you’re going to be."

Whether you believe in karma or not, you know that life throws negative challenges at us all; and psychics end up with just as many challenges as everybody else.

So, if you cannot avoid problems or be sure your readings are accurate, why do you want to become more intuitive?

Lissa Rankin says it best: We live in a fear-based culture that obsesses on trying to control life. We’re terrified of uncertainty, so we’re constantly anticipating everything that might go wrong and doing everything within our power to guard against inevitable disaster.

It’s an exhausting way to live, and it can lead to a chronic state of stress, anxiety, and exhaustion. Luckily, you don’t need fear to protect you because you have intuition—a powerful inner knowing.

Intuition lets us know (gives us the feeling) that we are on the right track. Those who become more intuitive have more self-confidence, can more easily say No, and are more in sync with their bodies. They also experience less self-criticism and less stress.

Jack Canfield adds, "Whether you want to make better decisions, solve problems faster, or create winning plans for your life, you will achieve your goals faster and more effectively when you tune into your intuition and listen to what your inner wisdom has to say ."

If you have decided to become more intuitive, read on.

3 Simple Steps for More Intuition

Start by allowing the discomfort.

Too many times I felt like I would never know but should know, and there was something wrong with me for not knowing. Now.

Right then, any decision was better than living with the negative feelings of uncertainty, so, with an angry shake of my head, I would push myself to decide for better or worse.

That feeling of not knowing is uncomfortable, but allowing that discomfort is necessary to realize those deeper answers; so, give yourself permission to be patient, to feel uncomfortable.

In the Meantime

1.) Sit comfortably and breathe out the tension with each breath. When you feel relaxed, then...

2.) Gently ask your question (barely a whisper): What do I want or want to do? (not "What should I do?")

Happily, you do not need to frame the perfect question when looking for an intuitive answer. Just ask What do I want or want to do? and your inner wisdom will take into account the variables.

3.) After asking, let go. Do not try for an answer or even look for one. It will come to you all on its own.

If, after a short time, it does not, or the answer is unclear, check to see that you are still relaxed and breathing easily.

If it still does not come, let it go until next time; but you might not have to wait long. Intuitive answers often appear at odd moments during the day or even in the middle of the night.

Watch for the Blocks

One block to intuition is the word should because it causes confusion, like the time my brother was going out with two women. One had been doing a lot to help him, and he felt he should be with her (out of gratitude?).

The other woman? He simply liked her more. He had been back and forth for a while, struggling to decide, when I told him what I have told myself many times since: throw out the should and go with your desire.

Advice can also get in your way unless you fully realize that you are the only person on this planet who really knows you. You are the one with those answers that work best for you, and like it or not, you are the one in charge.

Taking full responsibility for making your own decisions opens the channel to deeper wisdom.

And tension, too, blocks our intuitive side. Feelings of uncertainty can tighten both body and breath, as does trying to squeeze or push out an answer. Relax and let it come.

The final block to intuition is society. It almost dictates that we be too busy to stop for a moment of quiet, but that is exactly what brings those deeper answers (as well as a measure of peace).

Take some "me" time every day. Being alone can bring more overall clarity and insight and release life's stresses. It can even give you answers to questions you have not yet asked; so take a walk, watch the sunset, or just sit alone in a quiet place.
